Ohledávání - Doma, ve Skotsku a zase doma – Bísek Tomáš (2012)

In this Czech-language book, the author examines life by asking questions and seeking to discover what is true, just and peaceful. After completing his studies in commercial engineering, he is led to study theology, which he finishes with a year in New York. After returning from the United States, branded a spy, he begins working as an evangelical pastor in Telecí in the Vysočina region. Together with his wife and four children, he struggles against the repressive methods of normalization. After losing state permission to serve as a pastor, he works as a forestry labourer. Eventually, the family is forced to emigrate to Scotland in the police campaign known as Asanace. There, he continues his pastoral service and accepts Great Britain as his second homeland. Nevertheless, he returns to Bohemia and continues as a pastor in an evangelical congregation in Prague’s Spořilov district. Together with the congregation, he responds to a call to share life with the residents of a homeless shelter in Jižní Město, where the congregation relocates to a nearby site. He feels the arbitrary closure of the shelter by Jižní Město officials deeply, yet considers the time they shared an extraordinary gift.
