Příspěvky k dějinám marxismu – Sochor Lubomír (2025)

Edited by Petr Kužel, this book presents the first representative selection of texts by philosopher Lubomír Sochor (1925–1986). It brings together writings from various periods of his work and offers an overview of nearly all the subjects addressed by this important yet underappreciated Czech thinker. Alongside previously published studies and essays, the volume includes texts that have never appeared in print, usually because of intervention by the censorship of the time, or that were published only in émigré periodicals or foreign scholarly publications and are therefore difficult to access. Each text bears witness to Sochor’s open and undogmatic approach to Marxism. His analyses of various Marxist concepts that were themselves often suppressed or overlooked in the history of Marxism, together with his penetrating criticism of so-called “real socialism,” make a valuable contribution to the history of emancipatory thought. They show that seemingly forgotten or marginalised ideas can inspire and enrich contemporary and future critical social theory. The contents are in Czech.
