Description
The book is a collection of loosely connected essays by the Hungarian Marxist philosopher György Lukács, written between 1919 and 1921, when he was forced to live in exile after the fall of the Hungarian Republic. The individual essays are united by two themes: the effort to clarify the methodological core of Marxism as a theory of society and history, and an attempt to outline the theory of collective action, of which revolution is the extreme form. The Czech translation of Lukács's book was made by Lubomír Sochor in the late 1960s, but it is only now being published for the first time.
