The fourth book by Dominika Sakmárová, Biele mesto, offers seven stories connected by geographical location. This time, unlike the previous 'Asian' books, they take place in the heart of Spiš – in Spišské Podhradie and the surrounding villages. They intertwine real history with the fantastic, even magical. At the same time, they are colorful, fresh stories of contemporaries, for whom the tales of the past – the vanished indigo printing workshop, the heroic deeds of the residents of Olšavice, or the spells of shepherds from the Levoča hills – flow in their blood. The stories are laced with the Spiš and Rusyn dialects and snippets of Spiš folklore. The foundation of several of them is made up of fragments of true stories, some coming directly from the author's family. The story Pamätaj na nás won the Bibliotéka Award 2023, and the story Bodaj ju porantalo made it among the five finalists for the Martinus Fantasy Award 2024.
