Description
This Slovak-language fantasy novel is set in an empire where ash has fallen for a thousand years and no plant can grow. The cruel Lord Ruler governs a world in which the skaa are an inferior race of ordinary slaves who attempt rebellion every century. After escaping from a labour camp, Kelsier, a half-skaa with the ability to draw magical power from metals, decides to overthrow the tyrant and create a world without slavery. Even with the help of a group of skilled criminals, he remains one step behind until he meets Vin, a sixteen-year-old girl with abilities beyond anyone’s imagination. With her help, they may defeat the Lord Ruler, although their plan seems doomed from the beginning. And even if a miracle occurs, it will be only one battle among many still to come.
