Description
Harry Hole returns to a rented apartment on Sofies Gate, just one floor below where he met Rachel. This time he didn't leave on his own; she threw him out, and it seems like it's all over. Harry drowns his sorrows in alcohol. After one drunken night, he wakes up with blood on his hands and a window like the world. Those last few hours, of which he has not even a hazy memory, will change his life beyond recognition and bring him to his knees. Events take a swift turn – he is suspended, faces suspicion of murder, and his arch-enemy Svein Finne, who has emerged from prison after twenty years and seems to have not changed his disgusting habits, is after him. But it wouldn't be Harry if he didn't complicate his life even further – he embarks on an investigation on his own. In the twelfth part of the crime series, Harry Hole goes through the worst personal hell yet and hits rock bottom, from which it is hard to bounce back.
