Description
The novel The Lady of Čachtice before the Supreme Court is the culmination of a historical trilogy, thematically following the reader-successful novels In the Underground of Čachtice Castle (2001) and Elizabeth Báthory in Prison and at Liberty (2002). It captures the last months of the troubled life of Elizabeth Báthory from the winter of 1613 to August 21, 1614, when she departed this world at two o'clock in the morning – unfortunately, without receiving just punishment for her heinous crimes. The Lady of Čachtice was never held accountable for the bloodshed inflicted on innocent victims, with over a thousand girls murdered by her own hand. The last months of Elizabeth Báthory's life, set against a historically precise and impressive depiction of the era, are full of unexpected twists, entanglements, and often even mysterious tension.
