Based on true events, this Czech-language book follows the unusual collaboration between an FBI agent and a medium. One man is firmly grounded in facts, evidence and interrogations, while the other claims to perceive what remains invisible to others. The story follows the cases they worked on, as well as the defining “case” of their careers: the investigation into the horrific murders of John Smith, which shook an entire nation. FBI agent Bob Hilland relies on facts and rejects coincidence and the supernatural. In the summer of 1998, however, he encountered a case that defied all his experience. When he could find no solution, he reluctantly picked up the phone and called the famous medium John Edward. He did not realise that this single step would challenge his own prejudices, produce a crucial breakthrough in the investigation and lead to an unlikely partnership lasting twenty-five years. Together, Bob and John went on to work on other cases, gradually learning to rely on each other and trust their abilities. Alongside justice for the victims, they found a deeper understanding and a way to come to terms with their own pasts.
