Description
A dark vampire detective story by the author of The Chalk Man, The Burning Girls and The Drift. Barbara Atkins arrives in the remote Alaskan town of Deadhart to investigate the murder of a high-school student, which at first appears to be an obvious vampire attack. Vampires live in a nearby colony, and although they no longer drink human blood, relations with the locals have long been tense. Twenty-five years ago, the same thing happened there. When a snowstorm cuts the town off, the situation threatens to turn into a witch hunt. Barbara forms a team from the few people who genuinely want to find the culprit. Is it someone from the past, a bloodthirsty monster or a twisted psychopath? And what is more dangerous?
