Tom Selleck (*1945), American actor, producer, and screenwriter, Emmy and Golden Globe winner, earned extra money in commercials during his youth and considered a career as a professional basketball player, but ultimately film won out. His star career was launched by the role of a charismatic detective in the television series Magnum, followed by a plethora of films ranging from westerns, historical dramas to crime dramas and comedies that solidified his acting qualities.
