Description
A winter story about two clever children who can manage on their own when their godfather, who takes care of them, unexpectedly falls ill because he ran out of garlic and has to go to the hospital. Štuclinka and Zachumlánek sometimes struggle, but always humorously and with plenty of imagination, solve how to insulate the pump, how to save choking carp, how to defeat a log, how to build a wood splitter, how to cheer up their godfather with a St. Nicholas surprise, and how to bake cookies. When it gets too much for them, they are helped by a dog named Matlafousek, a gamekeeper and his wife, who seems to carry all the saints from the calendar in her head, as well as a kind doctor and nurse. The incomparable storytelling talent of František Nepil in this charming, kind, imaginative, and purely Czech story will delight not only children but also their parents and grandparents.
