Description
Annares is a desolate moon inhabited by an anarchic utopian civilization where there is no government and everyone, at least theoretically, is a revolutionary. It has long been isolated from other worlds, including its mother planet Urras – where nations still wage war against each other, and the greatest poverty contrasts with immoral wealth. Shevek, a brilliant physicist, intends to unite both civilizations. In the face of great hostility, threats, and the pain of separation from his family, he undertakes an unprecedented journey to Urras. Regardless of the dangers, he believes that the walls of hatred and distrust between his planet and the rest of the civilized universe must be torn down. He will seek answers, challenge the unquestionable, and explore the differences in customs and cultures... and either unite his peoples or perish.
