Description
The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela is one of the highest expressions of Christian devotion. Oldřich of Chlum, however, has so many concerns of his own that he has never considered undertaking such a journey. King Přemysl II Otakar sees things differently and orders his prosecutor to join the company accompanying the king’s aunt, Abbess Anežka, on the pious pilgrimage. Oldřich is even more displeased when he learns that Světlana, the daughter of Burgrave Vilém of Landštejn, is to serve as Anežka’s companion. Before they even cross the kingdom’s borders, the first murder takes place. Papal envoys, secret Templars and spies of the French king begin moving among the pilgrims. Anežka then confesses to Oldřich that religious devotion is not her only reason for making the journey. Before her death, the renowned Abbess Klára of Assisi wrote to her about a disturbing suspicion. Refusing to turn back, the small company continues its journey in search of a secret whose revelation many will have to pay for with their blood. This historical mystery is in Czech.
