Description
Once a swineherd, Marek is now becoming a man who must survive in a world full of intrigue. King Václav IV’s campaign against robbers among the lower and higher nobility also reaches the lords of Homberk, ushering in hard times for them. In the autumn of 1405, the royal army commanded by Jan z Lestkova lays siege to Homberk Castle, joined by men from Plzeň. They bring Sezema, the captured son of the castle’s lord, and demand that his father surrender. Blahuta of Homberk refuses to give way. His illegitimate son Marek, known as the Bastard, must therefore set out to plead with the king himself for his father’s mercy. But in a world where blood and power decide people’s fates, even courage may not be enough. The contents are in Czech.
