Description
Losing one’s life while serving in the financial guard of the Habsburg monarchy could be all too easy, and the cause did not have to be an enraged smuggler whose business had been interrupted. Inspector Plischko’s past catches up with him when one of his former subordinates returns to his life, though not in the way he would have wished: Moritz Hilbert has been shot dead. His fiancée, once the beautiful Miss Nora, refuses to accept that such things simply happen in the line of duty and becomes Plischko’s valued, though unofficial, collaborator. Then there is one more pipe and a mysterious cat.
