Description
František and Florián, two boys from the Czech interior, coincidentally find themselves shortly after the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic in the border region of the Ore Mountains. One longs for an adventurous life, while the other comes with his family out of necessity.
They settle in a small village called Chaloupky and try to get used to their new life in the mountains and among the local inhabitants. However, there are only two Czech families in the entire village; the rest of the population is German. And although during the interwar period people get along well and are used to helping each other, with the rising wave of aggressive nationalism, the established order in the border region quickly changes. Reasonable people become enemies, and in the newly formed Sudetenland, no Czech is safe anymore...
