Description

The final part of the tetralogy concludes the narrative of one of the most famous epochs in Czech history, the era of the great Přemyslid kings. It begins with the power vacuum after the death of Přemysl II. Otakar, continues with the reign of King Václav II, and ends with the murder of his son Václav III. King Václav II was an immensely interesting personality, perhaps somewhat underrated in history. It was during his reign that the model of a estates-based state was created, with a precise division of responsibilities between the monarch and the nobility. He himself was, however, an artist at heart, an outstanding minesengr, but also a man known for his erotic passion. His era is marked by court intrigues, struggles among the nobility, and the rise of cities. It was precisely at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries that the face of medieval Bohemia was shaped, which the Luxembourgs did not change much. As in the previous parts, the plot of the novel unfolds across the vast expanse of Christian Europe, featuring all members of the Přemyslid dynasty as well as significant personalities of the time.
