The last ruler of the Přemyslid dynasty, Václav III, is killed, and there is a threat that the resulting situation will cause complete chaos in the Kingdom of Bohemia. The widow of the murdered king, Queen Viola of Těšín, entrusts her personal confidant and advisor, Kryštof, a Benedictine monk, with the task of finding the king's murderer.
