Description
Two stories of the royal chamber scribe Jiří Adam from Dobronín take place in the mid-16th century. In the story "The Poisoned Cup," an old friend, the governor of Rakovník, invites the royal scribe to a wedding at Krakovec Castle. However, before the wedding festivities can begin, someone poisons the groom. Soon, another murder occurs. The motive seems clear, as does the murderer. Nevertheless, something does not add up for Jiří Adam, and he embarks on a diligent investigation. The second story, "The Martyr's Death," is set in the environment of a theater company, which is invited by the chief court master to Posázaví to perform a play about the martyrdom of Saint Dorothy. However, the actress portraying the martyr dies for real. The court master believes that it was his daughter who was meant to die. Therefore, he asks Jiří Adam from Dobronín for a discreet investigation into the case, as the Czech queen is set to arrive at Šternberk.
