Description
The new Moravian margrave Jan Jindřich fights to save his marriage cursed by a spell with Markéta Opavská and is coming to terms with Brno, which includes the Jewish Quarter... The local rabbi Izák, who raises not only his own children but also his ward Hester, collaborates with the 'Jewish' mayor from the ranks of Brno's patricians, and together they address the crimes committed by Jews against Christians and Christians against Jews... The Jew Mordechaj and his daughter Noba survived the pogroms in Speyer and Wrocław and are seeking refuge in Brno, where Jews and burghers have so far lived in mutual tolerance. However, the new ecclesiastical regulations from the Archbishop of Prague incite Christians against Jews as the source of all evil. Will the margrave manage to maintain order in Brno, or will the priests provoke the restless, plague-stricken Brno citizens to a pogrom? A critical day approaches, Good Friday of the year 1350, which will test the strength of long-standing relationships.
