Summer 1923 ***** Commissioner Leo Wechsler is spending his vacation on the island of Hiddensee with his girlfriend Clara Bleibtreu. Clara meets the doctor and women's rights activist Henriette Strauss, a dynamic and charismatic personality. The doctor is well-traveled, involved in social issues, and does not let conventions bind her in her love life, which fascinates Clara.
