Description
An exciting story about the young squire Martin of Stvolno, a great troubadour and occasional dealer in relics, takes place shortly after Emperor Charles IV's return from his Roman campaign. Martin finds his wife Johanka, whom he thought was dead, but freeing her from the monastery is not easy. He soon realizes that no one can escape their own past. The shadows of the dead seem to come alive, and the Rožmberk family does not forget either. However, Martin is not without powerful allies. Emperor Charles IV wants to place him at the head of a delegation that will set out for the Holy Land to the tomb of Christ. This marks the beginning of an adventurous journey to the Orient, which will stretch out longer than anyone could have imagined, even in their worst dreams.
