Description
Young knight Jiří Adam z Dobronína becomes a clerk of the Royal Chamber and is assigned to keep order in the Valley of Saint Joachim, where silver has been discovered. Miners arrive in the new settlement from the other side of the mountains, accompanied by people seeking a livelihood, though not all of them honestly. Shortly after Jiří Adam’s arrival, the innkeeper Margold is murdered. The crime initially appears ordinary, but witnesses speak of two demons. It soon emerges that a similar murder took place two days earlier, when a master butcher died, and another killing follows soon afterward.
