Description
It is the summer of 1945, shortly after the war. Many Czech families are heading to the Sudetenland to occupy the houses left by departing Germans. Jiří and Marie Smolík, along with their son František, arrive with all their modest belongings in the foothill village of Glasendorf. Here, a cruel and cynical national administrator and member of the Red Guard, Vojtěch Tomeček, is in charge. In his jovial and obsequious manner, he offers the family a beautiful Sudeten house. The Smolíks are immediately thrilled by the house, but it has one drawback. The original German family still lives there, waiting to be relocated. Everyone must learn to live together for a while. The newcomers, who are now the masters, must endure the old residents of the house. And the others, who have lived here their whole lives, now feel like strangers. And in the background, old grievances and wounds caused by the war emerge...
