Description
The seven-part saga tells the story of the famous and troubled events of the 15th century in the Kingdom of Bohemia. No other historical era in our history is as controversial in general perceptions as the Hussite movement. This period is even more complex for historical narration, as both sides, Catholic and Hussite, had their own truths, yet both simultaneously committed injustices. For perhaps the first time in our literature, a work appears that takes place in both warring camps without favoring one over the other. It seeks to capture the reasons why the poor rose against the rich, the simple against the educated, Czechs against Germans, and how the clash of the reasonable with the fanatics turned out. Historically accurately described events form the backdrop of a readable and thrilling story of the extended Prokop family, whose members are pitted against each other by relentless fate. The third part takes place from 1426 to 1440. The Prokop family experiences the crisis of the Hussite revolution. Hunger, plague, the disintegration of the country, and moral devastation accompany the fate of the land and the Prokop family. The book describes the end of radical Hussitism, the decline of field armies, the proceedings of the Basel Council, the ascension of Emperor Sigismund to the Czech royal throne, his death, and the rise of the influence of the Hussite nobility.
