Liga má 100 let – Hrabě Stanislav (2025)

In 2025, the Czech football league celebrates its 100th anniversary, providing ample reason to look back at a century of the phenomenon known as the top football competition. Seen, discussed and described by two dozen contributors, the league is presented through their observations in the individual chapters of this substantial project. The result is an informed monograph containing more than one hundred chapters, prepared from a variety of perspectives by renowned and respected football historians and sports journalists. Unlike other publications issued in the Czech Republic to commemorate 100 years of the league, this book does not contain only statistics from the century, such as the number of goals scored, players sent off, matches played or penalties taken. It describes the course of every individual season, publishes final league tables and the squads of league champions, and presents notable moments from each football season, profiles of league personalities and further information completing the story of a century of league football. The authors also explore how winning the title was perceived locally in different regions and in the home towns of clubs whose successes drew, and continue to draw, large numbers of supporters to their stadiums.
