Description
During the political trials of the 1950s, the wife of stonemason František Hošek wishes for him to change jobs. Ideally, he should become a prosecutor, a judge, or another collaborator of the regime. At first, František does not resist this idea and tries out the position of investigator, where he is disgusted by the practices being carried out. Later, as a guard in a women's prison, he understands not only the absurdity of the entire state apparatus but also, thanks to inmate Kristýna, realizes what he has been missing in life as a father of two children. Kristýna, along with his daughter Verunka, who loves to express her thoughts in poetry, opens up a different, colorful world for him, which can, however, be shattered at any moment in a totalitarian regime.
