Description
The author has published two books with the word "border" in their titles at Epocha Publishing: The Fight for the Border and We, Boys from the Border. This not only reflects the author's varying connection to the areas along the Czech-German border but also his interest in the people, events, and interrelations that are (or were) characteristic of the border, defining it and being influenced by it in return. The book Murders in the Borderlands follows the previous two not thematically, but rather through its spatial determination. The selected criminal cases date from the 1920s to the 1950s. Some of them could take place anywhere else, but many were specifically tied to that Czech-German border, that invisible yet real line across the landscape and the territory associated with it. The text is suitably complemented and illustrated by period and contemporary photographs.
