The book Neprakta is published to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of artist, illustrator, and caricaturist Jiří Winter (1924–2011), who holds a prominent place in the visual arts of the second half of the 20th century. Previous publications summarizing Neprakta's works have exclusively featured a selection of drawn humor and only marginally touched upon the other, equally extensive creations. This publication not only addresses the perspective on the visual work but also the theoretical placement of the "Neprakta phenomenon" within the contexts of social, historical, and artistic significance. It includes Winter's work in the context of the era and describes the development of Czech, or rather Czechoslovak caricature in the second half of the 20th century in several scholarly studies, while also highlighting Winter's close collaboration with all his subject matter experts. ***** Under the collective pseudonym NEPRAKTA, two art-loving friends and antique collectors, Mr. Bedřich Kopecný – the subject matter expert, and Jiří Winter – the artist, initially hid.
