The fates of Milan Malý intertwine with the dramatic events of our homeland in the 20th century. Fortunately, his memories have been recorded, and we now bring them to you in book form. His story gives us a glimpse into the life of a military pilot, whose courage and determination are essential not only for his own survival but also for the liberation of his country. The beginning and peak moment of his journey was his escape from a labor camp in Germany in 1940 and the risky crossing of the Alps, where he demonstrated great personal courage and extraordinary skills. And all of this at just 16 years old! This was followed by his enlistment in the Czechoslovak army, service at Tobruk, acceptance into the RAF, and subsequent training as a fighter pilot. However, his joyful return home was overshadowed by events after the communist coup, when he faced dismissal from the air force and a period of hardship. Only after the Velvet Revolution did he receive the recognition he deserved for his service to the homeland. His captivating story is complemented by nearly three hundred unique photographs and documents.
