Description
In the fourth and final volume of his memoirs, Otakar Husák describes the second half of his tenure as Minister of National Defense. He presents his collaboration with the French military mission in more detail, but primarily focuses on his political work in the office and the eternal struggle for the development of a quality army for the young state, which took place, for example, in defense committees. A substantial part is dedicated to the 'seventh power' – the press and its articles about the army, soldiers, and the author himself. He then discusses his end in politics and the army, concluding his memories with a brief description of his life in the 1920s. For this reason, this volume is supplemented by the author's biography, which captures his subsequent, often very dramatic fate, including the period of imprisonment in German concentration camps during World War II. It is all complemented by a large number of period photographs and documents.
