Description
Once upon a time there was the Apple Tree Kingdom, wisely ruled by King Ctirad Spravedlivý, who personally cared for his beloved daughter, Princess Světlanka. Everything in the land had its order, watched over by an army of devils and devil jailers, while people and devils lived together in harmony. Lucifer Krucinálfagot the Fourth served as the highest judge, giving sinners the chance to atone for their sins on earth so that they would not later have to go to hell. Světlanka falls in love with a young man named Matěj, but this displeases the greedy counsellor Hamižný, who wants to marry her and seize the kingdom. He succeeds in driving a wedge between the people and the devils, who return to hell. The embittered devils then rebel, and hell ceases to fulfil its function. Sinners can act with impunity and joyfully take over and plunder the entire kingdom, so Matěj must embark on a long journey to find magical apples and use them to save the land. The book is in Czech.
