When a patrol discovers an unusual form of life during a routine check of their space station, they disregard protocol and attempt to investigate it themselves. However, their reckless move has catastrophic consequences. It soon becomes clear that they are dealing with an alien whose abilities surpass anything humanity has ever imagined. It is a parasite that spreads through space and can steal the identities of its victims. It takes their skin, looks like them, and even adopts their personalities. It mimics their speech, appearance, and behavior. Human skin provides it with a perfect disguise that is nearly impossible to detect.

And when humanity finally realizes that extinction is imminent, it is almost too late.

People are losing their communication networks, which are collapsing under the relentless advance of the aliens, and hundreds of space stations are left to their fate. If the networks and communication are not restored, humanity will not survive. A handful of individuals sent on a suicide mission to save the last communication hub must find a way to confront this threat. If they fail, not only will they perish, but soon all of humanity will as well.
