Skřivan & Řemen – Weaver Brynne (2025)

The Czech-language novel follows contract killer Lachlan Kane, who longs for a quiet life in his leatherworking workshop and wants to forget the traumas of his past. When he botches an assignment for his employer’s most important client, he realizes he will never escape the underworld—at least not until indie singer-songwriter Lark Montague offers him a deal: he will help her find a killer, and she will secure his freedom. There is one catch: first, he has to marry her. There is another: the two of them hate each other. Lark is like a ray of sunshine that defeats every cloud and penetrates every hiding place Lachlan tries to keep concealed. Lachlan, the unconventional older brother of her best friend’s soulmate, sees her as a privileged princess, but Lark hides more than one secret in the shadows beneath her bright exterior. With her family in ruins and her best friend’s happiness hanging by a thread, she is willing to make a vow to a man she is determined to hate, no matter how attractive the taciturn killer may be. As Lachlan and Lark make their way together through a dark world, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish what is false in their marriage from what is real. They are pursued not only by dangers they know about, but also by a vengeful specter. Recommended for readers aged 18 and over.
