When the castle where maid Agnes Fitzgerald works is raided by the army of Prince Edward of England, she manages to escape north of Inverness, where she finds herself at the mercy of the lord and lady of Ravenscraig Castle. There she is safe for a brief moment, but as the Scots bravely fight for their independence, the atmosphere is thick with fear of the English army. But when Agnes sees Cam Buchanan swimming in the local lake, her mind immediately shifts from war to love. The castle is surrounded by the rugged landscape of the Scottish Highlands, sits beside a lake, and everything looks like a dream come true.
