Description
A young Norwegian police investigator leaves Oslo for Spitsbergen, hoping that working for the local police, which in an area with almost no crime deals mainly with occasional fights, snowmobile accidents, petty theft and incidents involving animals, will help her overcome her anxiety attacks. Her self-prescribed therapy is seriously disrupted when a student is attacked by a polar bear. Such an incident would not be unusual in the Arctic, were it not for circumstances that raise the investigator’s suspicions. Meanwhile, a former war correspondent from mainland Norway learns of the death of a former colleague on the Lofoten Islands. Unwilling to accept the official explanation of suicide, given the nature of his former partner, he sets out to discover the real reason for her death. Two cases a thousand kilometres apart lead to two parallel investigations. The lives of the two dead women intersect through a high-stakes game that began somewhere entirely different from the fjords, coastal ice and polar wildlife.
