Description
In this touching story, we meet two septuagenarians, Evelyn and Joseph. They have known each other their whole lives, grew up together, started a family, raised three children, ran a guesthouse, and retired. However, Evelyn has doubted for much of her life whether it was the life she envisioned. She longed to pursue music and travel, but instead, she took care of guests and raised children. Joseph never doubted; family and the guesthouse were the meaning of his life.
Evelyn begins to experience health issues, and eventually, she is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. This frightens her even more because her mother suffered from Alzheimer's disease, and the family witnessed her losing her memories, habits, and not recognizing her loved ones. For Evelyn, it is unimaginable to lose her world, her family, and herself, so she decides to leave with dignity. Joseph cannot imagine life without her, so he begins to plan their departure together.
