Long blonde hair. Bright dark eyes. Teeth as white as pearls. I had never seen her before, but as soon as I spot her in the crowd at the terminal, I immediately know it’s her. She is indistinguishable from our deceased daughter. And that is exactly why I invited her to our home.

From the moment our exchange student Tanya steps into our house, it feels as if our daughter has come back to life. The slender, light-haired Tanya resembles our Anabel so much that sometimes I feel as if our lost daughter has returned to us.

However, my younger daughter Paige is not so thrilled about our guest. She finds it strange how much Tanya looks like our Anabel, and it annoys her that our guest wears clothes that belonged to her sister. But Paige has always had a tense relationship with Anabel. Another teenage girl in the house will be a blessing for our family. I have no doubt about that.

But suddenly, Paige starts asking me about Tanya's past. She claims that Tanya is not who she pretends to be. But I have long understood that sometimes it is better not to pry into things you don’t want to know the answers to. And I definitely don’t want Paige to play with fire, because I too am starting to suspect that Tanya is hiding something from us.
