Jason Redmond and Daniel Haze must leave the Christmas ball earlier than they would like. A corpse has been found in a rather compromising position on the mill wheel, and it is necessary to find out who is behind this humiliating murder. Redmond and Haze investigate what Frank Darrow did to provoke the killer to go beyond just killing him. Who could harbor such animosity towards him? Did the notorious drunk get involved with someone he shouldn't have? In their effort to determine the motive, the investigators unravel his various relationships and arrive at a shocking revelation with serious consequences.
