It’s the 1980s. Collete LeSange lives near the American town of Millstream Hollow and runs a French preschool in her home, an elite early childhood facility. However, her story began about one hundred and fifty years earlier, during a plague epidemic that also struck the village in the western part of New York State, where she lived her childhood under the name Anya. The previously unknown disease gradually wiped out the inhabitants with such force that a belief took hold among the people that it was the work of hellish forces. ***** Anya survives as the only one from her family, but a local deacon and fanatic accuses her of consorting with demons and has the girl, who is also fighting for her life, imprisoned and guarded. Suddenly, however, her mysterious grandfather, whom the girl has never met, appears in the village to rescue her from the deacon's clutches and take her away with him. ***** Despite all the care, Anya does not recover, but just before her inevitable death, that mysterious grandfather bites her in the neck and grants her a new life, this time endless and unending.
