Description
Geostories are essentially tales of real or fictional people (whether scientists or ordinary mortals) from various corners of our planet, whose lives have been predominantly negatively impacted by the forces of nature. As the author himself states in the preface, this book was created against the backdrop of his efforts (initially on Facebook and later on Twitter) to popularize geological research and inquiry. However, it was not initially intended to be a "boring list of scientific facts," but rather captivating and dramatic narratives that were meant to "spread widely across the internet like threads, reaching many eyes and, above all, having a lasting impact on readers." It is clear that this impact was meant to be an awakening and understanding of what is happening around us. Ideally, right now. That in our space-time, every action provokes a reaction. And it can be just a seemingly insignificant event occurring on the other side of the world, whose consequences may not be immediately apparent... The means of this awakening and understanding can be, as in our case, the geosciences, whose significance, especially due to the intensifying global climate changes, is gradually increasing and which are slowly shedding their reputation as the "whipping boy" among other fields. This is also why the author – a scientific lover of volcanic activity and everything surrounding it...
