Description

Godfrey Morgan, the young nephew of a wealthy industrialist, was to marry the daughter of a millionaire and wanted to experience some adventure before the wedding. Therefore, Uncle Kolderup sends him on a journey on his ship. He chooses as a companion a dance and etiquette teacher named Tartellett, who lives in his house and is nearly useless in practical life. Shortly after departure, however, the ship encounters a storm and begins to sink off an unknown coast. The captain advises Godfrey to jump overboard, swim to shore, and save his life. He manages to do so, and when the storm ends, he finds Tartellett on the beach. Soon both discover that they are likely the only survivors of the shipwreck and that they are on an uninhabited island. The two men initially live a very harsh Robinson Crusoe life on the island, including rescuing a captive from cannibals and fending off attacks from wild animals. However, after a while, a large number of crocodiles and wild beasts swarm the island, leading to a real fight for survival.
