Description
The famous dystopian sci-fi novel from 1936 deals with a race of intelligent newts who initially allow themselves to be exploited as cheap labor, but over time their population multiplies and begins to threaten humanity. Since the newts cannot live on land, they gradually destroy the land and expand their marine territory. Meanwhile, humans continue to supply them with tools and weapons, even though they know the newts plan to destroy them. The expansion of the newt nation can be seen as a parallel to the politics of the Third Reich and their theory of Lebensraum. The author deliberately left an open ending in the book.
