Description
Mary Crane is sitting behind the wheel of a car speeding through heavy rain. She is on the run. Guilt and remorse are chasing her because she has just stolen forty thousand dollars to pay off the debts of the man she loves. When she makes a wrong turn at an intersection, she has no idea that her life has just flipped one hundred and eighty degrees. In front of her, on the edge of a stagnant swamp, looms the dark outline of a motel, whose owner, Norman Bates, leads a lonely life governed by the will of his cruel and possessive mother. Norman seems a bit strange to Mary, but otherwise quite nice, so she is not deterred by the fact that the rooms are old and not very well maintained. All she desires at that moment is rest and a hot shower to wash away the bad day she has had. And it is in the bathroom that she will finally meet Norman's mother... and her knife.
