Description
Elspeth Swanson is the last person left in the world, so she accepted a job as a nanny for a family on a remote Scottish island called Skelthsea. Her charge is a disturbing child; distracted and mysterious Mary, who hasn't spoken a word since the unexpected death of her twin brother William. To make matters worse, their previous nanny disappeared just a few days before that tragic event. Elspeth must confront Mary's defiant silence, and so she turns to the islanders.
