On a sunny August morning in 1935, thirteen-year-old Sophia Gray finds her friend Rosemary wandering in the woods. Newspapers hidden in the attic reveal a secret that has affected Hattie's life and that of her siblings. Hattie and her sister Jude embark on a quest to right the wrongs of the past and uncover the deception that stole their mother ten years ago.
