In the idyllic Zephyr, Alabama, the year is 1964. People either work for the paper mill by the Tecumseh River or for the local dairy. It is a simple life, but it sparks the impressive imagination of twelve-year-old aspiring writer Cory Mackenson. He is sure he felt the whispers of ghosts in the cemetery. He heard about strange smugglers lurking in the dark outside of town. He saw a flood of snakes on Main Street. Cory is as excited about all of this as any little boy can be.
