All Ginny Anderson wants is to enjoy a laid-back summer in her hometown of Chicago and take a writing course during it. Her plans are changed by her dad, who plans to take the whole family for a month-long stay in neighboring Michigan due to work. And not just any stay. Instead of a hotel where most families would likely stay, they are to live in a hundred-year-old mansion with twenty-six rooms, surrounded by dense forests. Before leaving, Ginny learns what the locals say about the forests - that they are home to mutated creatures resulting from the experiments of a mad scientist. Some even claim that campers mysteriously disappear here often. After moving into the creepy building full of cobwebs and creaking floors, which her dad is tasked with restoring to its original character and prosperity, it turns out that the surrounding forests are not the only problem. The rumors about the creatures are not the only tales, and it's not just the campers who should be cautious. Instead of a peaceful summer, Ginny begins to experience a story reminiscent of a horror tale, and missing the writing course soon becomes the least of her worries. Now not only her summer is at stake, but also the safety and health of her entire family...
