Description
November 1924. The transatlantic ship Endeavour sets sail from Southampton to New York, carrying two thousand passengers in addition to the crew. When the body of an elderly man is found at the foot of the staircase, ship officer Timothy Birch considers his death a tragic accident. However, James Temple, a determined inspector from Scotland Yard, is convinced that someone has aided this apparent misfortune. Birch agrees to assist Temple with the investigation, and the trail quickly leads them to the theft of an immensely valuable painting, the existence of which was known only to the owner... and the deceased man. With only a few days left until landing in New York, Temple's very presence on board the ship seems increasingly suspicious, and Birch's search for the perpetrator is fraught with danger. Meanwhile, the passengers continue to stroll the decks, and somewhere among them, a murderer waits...
