Every year on the night of November 6, a serial killer known as the Badger digs through the basement floor into the homes of his chosen victims, who then disappear without a trace underground, just like their murderer. One morning, editor Annika Granlund finds a manuscript stained with dirt at her office door. It is titled I Am the Badger. The manuscript is a twisted autobiography of a serial killer living underground. Annika sees it as her chance to save the publishing house that is facing bankruptcy. Despite the obvious connection to a real, still unsolved murder case, Annika decides to publish the manuscript. Her decision, however, affects her more than she could ever have imagined, and soon it begins to pull her deep into the darkness she experienced as a small child. As the fateful date approaches, the connection between the manuscript and the real killer becomes increasingly clear, and questions surrounding the published book pile up. Who is the Badger really? Who wrote the book? And what is actually hidden in the dirt underground?
